Pigmentation reduced by Laser Results of laser therapy for pigmentation depend on the depth of pigmentation, the skin type of the individual and the level of sun exposure. Most patients are satisfied with the results achieved with laser therapy alone, however, some patients may have to use bleaching creams in combination with lasers and a small number of patients may have to resort to laser resurfacing (please see below). The regular use of sun-screens and general sun protection measures is recommended to prevent the pigmentation from returning. Fading of pigmentation will occur slowly over a period of two to four weeks.

LASER RESURFACING Peeling lasers Lasers can be used to peel the skin of the face in a very accurate and controlled manner. This is called resurfacing. Laser treatments do not cause in-grown hairs. For patients experiencing excessive amounts of pain, local anasthetic is available in the form of creams of injection. All body areas can be treated. After an initial series of two to three treatments to achieve control of hair growth, most patients return for repeat treatments every six months.

ACNE This is a very common skin condition which causes great stress and embarrassment to its sufferers. Simple measures are used where possible. In resistant cases of ACNE, drug therapy can be used. Treatment involves the use of medicines, creams, liquid nitrogen, electrical burning and laser. Local anaesthetic is available to control pain with treatments. Perseverance is required with repeated treatments often required. Most patients achieve total clearance of their warts.
