Breast reduction by Liposculpture

Breast Liposculpture is suitable for patients who wish to achieve smaller breasts with only a minor improvement in the degree of overhang.  Liposculpture has the advantage of causing minimal scarring and is associated with rapid recovery. It is suitable for both women and men.

The patient can expect to have sore breasts for 1 to 2 weeks. The position of the nipple will not be altered by this type of surgery. If lifting of the nipple is required, surgical breast reduction will be more appropriate.

Liposculpture of the Breasts can only be offered to those patients who do not have a family history of breast cancer and who do not have a personal history of breast cancer or other breast disease. A mammogram and ultrasound scan of the breasts will be performed prior to surgery. 

Breast reduction by Liposculpture can result in better posture and a reduction in back-ache.

In men breast reduction can lead to greater confidence with wearing tight shirts.

Advantages
The specific advantage of liposcupture to the breasts is a decrease in breast size without major scarring. Recovery is rapid with most people achieving a good result by the end of the first month.

Disadvantages
The specific disadvantages of liposculpture to the breasts are inability to accurately predict final breast size, the possibility of unevenness and lack of nipple elevation.  
It is impossible to accurately predict the final size of breasts following liposculpture. The final size depends on many factors including patient's age and the internal make up of the breasts.
Some patients become concerned about unevenness. They may notice that one breast will result bigger than the other side, they may also notice some areas that are not smooth, finally, they may notice lumpiness. All of these problems will improve with the passage of time. A repeat liposculpture may be necessary.
Some patients become concerned about the position of their nipples. Liposculpture of the breasts does not result in elevation of the nipples. If nipple elevation is required, surgical breast reduction may be a more appropriate option.

Costs
The basic costs of liposculpture to the breasts involve an operating theater fee of $1800 plus a garment fee of $200. The operation fee ranges between $3000 and $6000 depending on the number of areas operated and the likely operating time. All fees are inclusive of GST.
