LIPOSCULPTURE CALVES

Liposculpture of the calves is designed to remove excess fat and improve the shape of the calves by achieving better muscle definition. The procedure is performed to make the calf look in proportion to the rest of the leg.

Patients will be required to keep their calves elevate for two days after their Liposculpture.  Walking within limits of comfort is encouraged.  Standing for longer than a few minutes should be avoided for the first week after operation. Graduated compression stockings are recommended for the first 3 months after Liposculpture to support the calf and reduce swelling.

The appearance of the calves will keep improving for the first six months after surgery.  

Advantages
The specific advantages of liposcupture to the calves are thinning of the ankles, improved muscular definitition of the calves and better definition of the tendon at the back of the ankle (the Achille's tendon). Recovery is rapid with most people achieving a good result by the end of the first month.

Disadvantages
The specific disadvantages of liposculpture to the calves are the possibility of persistent swelling of the ankles and the possibility of unevenness.  
Most patients will find that the their ankles and calves will swell after their liposculpture. It is for this reason that patients are advised to use graduated compression stockings for three months. 
Some patients become concerned about unevenness. They may notice that the calf on one side has a better shape than the other side, they may also notice some areas that are not smooth, finally, they may notice lumpiness. All of these problems will improve with the passage of time and an exercise program. A repeat liposculpture may be necessary if the unevenness persists.

Costs
The basic costs of liposculpture to the calves involve an operating theater fee of $1800 plus a garment fee of $200. The operation fee ranges between $3000 and $6000 depending on the number of areas operated and the likely operating time. All fees are inclusive of GST.
